Job description

Hetherington Newman are designers and "in-house" makers of high-end bespoke furniture and architectural joinery and we are looking for skilled and experienced furniture/cabinet makers to join our team at our modern workshop in Glossop SK13 7AJ.

Job Description: Working from our well equipped workshop, you will be required to produce truly bespoke cabinetry such as, kitchens, dressing rooms, boot rooms, wine rooms and bars etc for the high-end residential market.

The role:

You will be joining the cabinet shop team that works alongside the machinery & finishing departments to produce from scratch in-house bespoke furniture & joinery. You will work as a lead maker running your own job from machining to final QC, specifically:-

  • Read CAD drawings to organise the requirements of the job
  • Working with quality materials such as European Oak, Walnut, Cherry and veneers
  • Any bespoke hand-work required
  • Assembly, precise sizing & fitting of doors & drawers
  • Fitting of all hardware
  • Preparation for finishing shop
  • Final Assembly
  • Quality control alongside the supervisor

Requirements

  • Experience using all kinds of woodworking machinery
  • Experience using all kinds of hand-held power tools
  • Experience using woodworking hand tools
  • Veneering experience would be advantageous
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Be organised
  • Ability to understand technical drawings
  • Able to work quickly, accurately and consistently
  • Be self-motivated and an energetic team player
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team
  • Have a desire to continuously learn and improve

Working hours:

  • 7am – 4.30pm Monday – Thursday
  • 7am – 1.30pm Friday
  • Overtime available during busy periods, first 5 hours @ x 1.5, over 5 hours @ x 2 hourly rate
  • 29 days holiday (including bank holidays)

Salary:

Salary negotiable dependent upon experience and skill set.
