Maintenance Manager – About the role -
The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management and running of the maintenance department, ensuring maximum production with minimal downtime. You will report directly to the Plant Manager.
Maintenance Manager Key Responsibilities -
· The management and day to day running of the maintenance department comprising of mechanical, electrical and instrument technicians
· Taking an active part in the on-going improvement of the plant, including writing policies / procedures, setting up the CMMS and initiating 3rd party contracts for consumables, spares, parts and maintenance requirements
· Management of the business system; implementing new requirements whilst ensuring safe and efficient plant operation.
· Ensuring all Health & Safety Standards are met and where possible and exceeded.
· Plan, manage and lead outage / shutdowns / cleaning cycles working closely with Fleet engineers and site technicians. Overseeing 3rd Party Maintenance contractors and service level agreements on critical equipment
· Preparing the annual budget for the site maintenance department for review and ensuring all work is within this budget unless unplanned
· Owning the Maintenance schedule ensuring appropriate prioritisation to the overall Site Business Plan, working closely with the Plant Manager to ensure any modifications to the maintenance plan are robustly managed
· Liaising with company directors and managers as well as external stakeholders such as contractors, principal client and the environmental agency to ensure smooth operations
· Deputising for the Plant Manager and Operations Manager when required
· Following site MOC procedure for plant changes and modifications
· Responsibility for key maintenance activities and meeting KPI’s
· Own and Develop maintenance strategies that adhere to company standards
· Ensure competency of team meets the required standards through continual team development
· Manage team overtime and call outs and follow up ensuring resource is in line with operational needs
· Attending daily and weekly operational meetings ensure plant and maintenance defects are fed into maintenance workflow, prioritised and scheduled
· Ensure correct use of CMMS inputting time spent and parts expensed against assets and ensure team are conversed in use of CMMS
· Creating work packs ready for asset approval and execution in line with outages and cleaning cycles. Identify further opportunities for asset optimisation and improvements
· Participate and ensure quality of operational 5 why and RCA activities
· Review and analyse equipment failures / breakdown and review maintenance strategies and recommend changes
· Manage critical stock ensuring parts are labelled, accounted for and expensed in line with work orders
· Responsible for chairing the site Maintenance meetings
· Provide direct line management support to key team members
Maintenance Manager Essential Requirements -
·Degree/ HND in a relevant Engineering discipline
· Previous management experience in Waste to Energy or Power Station plants
·Relevant H&S qualification (eg: NEBOSH certificate or IOSH Managing Safely level)
·Strong process engineering background, preferably in the power industry and including steam raising plant
·Experienced in managing teams, resource planning, performance, absence and disciplinaries etc
·Robust appreciation of Health, Safety and Environmental procedures
· Experience preparing detailed plans, reports and programs
·Experience in managing contractors and consultants
·Experience of Emergency planning and procedures
·Knowledge of MAXIMO or similar CMMS system
·Ability to prioritise and delegate effectively
·Excellent written and oral communication skills
·Computer literate
·Existing right to work in the UK Desirable:
·Experience of Pressure Systems, PSSR/ PED
·Experience of working with/ under CDM Regs
·Knowledge/ experience in HV electrical systems
·Previous budgeting experience
·Experience of managing site Environmental Permits in accordance with IED
