Job description
We are looking for an experienced multi skilled maintenance technician/engineer to operate on a permanent contract working fulltime hours at our factory HQ in Blaydon on Tyne.
If you have worked in food manufacturing or the packaginng/manufacturing industry in some capacity, then this role may be ideal for you. This role is ideal for a retired/semi retired engineer or technician who is getting bored of gardening and wants to keep their mind and body active.
To be considered for this position, you should ideally have:
1. A mechanical engineering qualification or be time served with either dual skills or a mechanical bias.
2. Relevant experience within an industrial manufacturing working environment (preferably food manufacturing or dairy). Bonus points for those working with experience of flow-wrapping packaging machinery and inkjet printers.
3. Relevant experience of repair work within challenging deadlines and time constraints often as a lone worker.
The majority of the work shall involve assisting the Engineering Manager and engineering team with the service, repair and maintenance of catering equipment and plant in accordance with a concise TPM schedule.
Planned preventative maintenance duties would include:
* following routine servicing schedules and completing work reports
* checking and calibrating instruments and machinery to make sure they are accurate
* fitting new parts as required, or as part of a regular replacement rota
Emergency maintenance tasks would include:
* responding immediately to equipment breakdowns
* fixing faults on site or arranging for replacement equipment to be installed
* keeping the engineering manager/directors informed of progress
Required experience: Previous engineering /maintenance with mechanical/electrical training.
