If you enjoy practical hands-on work, with a fair bit of variety, and have developed some basic skills through previous work on building sites or otherwise, without necessarily being a qualified tradesperson, this may well be the post you are looking for.
You will work alongside an experienced Facilities Manager, with access to contractors for work requiring particular qualifications, and with him ensure that the facilities we have comply with all health and safety requirements and are kept in a good state of repair that respects the dignity of those for whom it is their home or which they use regularly.

You will assist in maintaining multi occupied properties, including a 59 bedroomed Care Home for elderly people and people living with dementia, three connected residential bungalows for people living with complex disabilities, a Day Services centre which welcomes 20 service users daily, a block of 10 residential flats for people requiring supported living and a small number of residential houses and St. George’s Head Office.
On a daily basis you would be involved in some of the following: physically moving hospital and other beds around the Care Home, hanging pictures for residents, assembling flat pack furniture for residents, ensuring the vehicles are safe and usable - tyre checks and fuelled up, painting, basic carpentry /plumbing, testing equipment is in working order, overseeing external contractors’ work .
This is a 37hour per week post and involces being on call 2 weeks out of 4 weeks (on average).
