Job Advert – Maintenance Assistant
Reporting to: Buildings & Technical Manager

Here at Wycombe Swan, we provide the people of Buckinghamshire with top-quality musicals, drama, comedy, dance, family shows, one night events, and a world-class pantomime. With a capacity of 1,076 seats, the Main auditorium boasts superb acoustics, a large stage and adaptable seating. The historic Old Town Hall offers a smart, distinctive, multi-use space with staging and seating up to 400 and 600 standing. Rounding off the spaces is the ornate Oak Room, providing a glorious and elegant setting for events of up to 120 people. More than just high quality programming seen in the main space, Wycombe Swan regularly hosts conferences, graduations, parties and weddings, with exquisite food provided by the in-house catering team and we are proud to be a venue that supports local community hires, alongside nurturing the young talent of Bucks through our youth drama activities.
Salary: £15,600 per annum
Hours: 20 per week over 3 -5 days out of 7, Flexible whist meeting business requirements.
About the Role
We are looking for a Maintenance Assistant to join our busy Buildings & Technical team. As a maintenance assistant you will be hands on, playing a key role in maintaining the building. Whether that be carrying out repairs to the fabric of the building, undertaking equipment or plumbing maintenance, you will be helping to keep a major cultural venue in the town of Buckinghamshire looking its best. The role includes regular manual handling, lone and assisted lifting tasks. The ideal applicant will have experience in a trade or maintenance role, but your personality and work ethos are as important.
Responsibilities to include:
- General building maintenance of the venue, to include (but not restricted to) lamp rounds, fire checks, general painting, basic plumbing, repair works etc.
- Support other members of the operations team by providing maintenance and repair work at Wycombe Swan.
- Undertake venue inspections to maintain security and repair when needed.
- Assist in the preparation of a planned maintenance programme.
- Specify order and supervise minor repair works around the building.
- Undertake specific maintenance and repair operations, complying with relevant Health and Safety requirements.
- Action and complete any day-to-day maintenance tasks around the building. Use the cloud-based building maintenance software to keep a log of any maintenance that is reported and completed.
- Undertake in house and external training provided by the company in relation to this role

Your Experience
- Experience working in a maintenance role, and work on general building maintenance.
- Good knowledge of Health and Safety including the correct use of personal protective equipment.
- Experience in working to maintenance and service contracts.
- Physically fit and be able to lift and carry light items of equipment and furniture.
- Comfortable using access equipment
- Able to use and maintain basic power tools.
