In the next few years over 200 new Stadler trains will be joining the UK rail network. Our current depot locations are Cardiff, Glasgow, Liverpool, Newcastle and Norwich offering a wide scope of opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in the UK Rail Industry.
We are looking to recruit a Maintainer Control Room Operative to join the production team at our Sandhills Integrated Electronic Control Centre. Reporting to the Head of Production, the role will be responsible for
- Act as the Maintainer Control Room Contact (MCRC), co-ordinating Class 777 availability and diagramming with the Control Centre Production Controller
- Offer advice to the Control Centre Production Controller to ensure little impact is created due to service faults
- Through RDS record all instances of service faults to ensure the correct information is documented to informs the depot teams of any corrective measures required
- Compile accurate unit handover documents and carry out handover / handback process
- Data input into SRMS and data capturing for reliability purposes
- To attend any joint meetings with Merseyrail within the Control Centre, to ensure correct representation from Stadler regarding performance and delay attribution
- Respond and support Merseyrail (within the IECC) to in service breakdowns and lead in a 'first response situation' should emergencies in service arise
- Support the business in ensuring trains are provided as and when necessary, at all times meeting all criteria in the areas of product and people safety, reliability, environment and train presentation (interior & exterior as required). Ensuring industry, engineering and production best practice and standards, and at least as a minimum the contract requirements
MAINTAINER CONTROL ROOM OPERATIVE
YOUR TASKS
- Support the Head of Production by live monitoring of class 777 performance during operational hours and acting as first point of contact for SRSUK customer Merseyrail electrics
- Ensure all such activities are carried out with due regard to safety standards and performance targets
- Ensuring SRMS database is regularly reviewed and updated with live information in relation to class 777 fleet
- Ensure that trains which go into service are safe, reliable and compliant with company procedures (e.g. VMI, VOI)
- Management of key safety accountabilities
- Demonstrate ability to act in a professional manner as this role is customer facing located in Network rail control center (Sandhills)
- Ensure to have good knowledge and understanding of the DOTE (Defective on train equipment)
- Good knowledge of key systems (RDS & SRMS)
- Knowledge of Class 777 fault guide and the ability to offer advice to train operator during a train failure mainline.
YOUR PROFILE
- Electrical & Mechanical time served (or equivalent) with suitable level of shop floor experience
- Good inter-personal and communication skills
- Good level of IT skill including Microsoft packages
- Experience in:
o Fault reporting and investigation
Desirable:
- Knowledge of rolling stock units (New fleet)
- Understand circuit diagrams
- Experience of dealing with key stakeholders
- Experience of continuous improvement
- Proven experience in the introduction of new trains and warranty management
- Proven extensive experience in a large engineering environment with a focus on production, through-life support
- Knowledge of maintenance activities with a large multi-disciplined transport fleet
- Experience in an operational transport and production environment
- Knowledge and experience in advanced Lean, Kaizen and 6S and other modern production techniques
- Knowledge and experience in conducting and leading complex root cause investigations
- Strong knowledge experience and understanding of risk and safety in the workplace, within a transport environment and from a production perspective
- Clear understanding of the principles of production techniques and process' and the interaction between the functions across the business
- Proven experience of identifying, assessing and mitigating all manner of risks and documenting risk registers to demonstrate compliance and become the basis of safe systems of work
