Site Information – Dungeness A Site is located on a 22 hectare site of special scientific interest on the Kent coast. The site stopped generating electricity in 2006 with a lifetime output of 120 terawatt hours. The site is now in its decommissioning phase and is making steady progress, including demolishing its turbine hall and decontaminating its ponds. Preparations and enabling activities are now underway at Dungeness to facilitate the removal and disposal of the boilers.

Role Information
Control & Instrumentation: Maintenance & Operations Engineering Technician
Apprenticeship standard reference: ST0154 – L3
As a Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician (MOET), you will work on various types of plant and equipment commonly found throughout the Engineering Industry sectors.
Key duties/responsibilities
Control and Instrumentation routine maintenance of conventional/radiological plant/systems- Breakdown/fault finding and repair of all plant and systems
- Supporting waste operations routine maintenance outages
- Build/commission and test of new installations
- Calibrations of fixed and portable instruments (conventional and radiological)
- Supporting existing maintenance technicians during daily work packages
- Position, assemble, install and dismantle plant and equipment, which will include instrumentation and control of temperature, pressure and flow systems to agreed specifications
- Carry out planned, unplanned and preventative maintenance procedures on plant and equipment
- Replace, repair and/or remove components in plant and equipment and ensure its return to operational condition
- Diagnose and determine the cause of faults in plant and equipment
- Calibrate and configure instrument and control systems
Qualifications and Experience
Five GCSEs at grade 9 to 4 (C or higher) including mathematics, English and science, or equivalent.- A genuine passion for engineering
- Flexible attitude and ability to work under pressure
- Effective oral and written communication skill
- Problem solving/Attention to detail and pro-active approach
- Team player
- Commitment to safety
- Apprentices will develop their experience and knowledge throughout their apprenticeship and are expected to initially bring a willingness and enthusiasm to learn from the experiences and opportunities presented to them throughout the course of their time with the Company.
Training Provider Information
National College for Nuclear, Cannington.- Length of training – 48 months
- Training will be delivered via block release

There is a requirement to live within a commutable distance to the sites where the role is based. For central/multi-site roles, we have various hubs across the UK and can be flexible with base location.
