The company

Autism Parenting Magazine improves the quality of life for families affected by autism all around the world. We release a monthly magazine, run bi-annual summits and release courses to help parents and young adults.

We have experienced rapid growth the last few years and are looking for talented individuals that can embrace the values and mission of Autism Parenting Magazine.

The company consists of a diverse team of all ages, backgrounds, faiths and locations, spread across the UK, USA, Philippines, South Africa and Eastern Europe. There are 12 full-time staff members and multiple freelancers, with everyone working completely remotely.

The work is fun - sometimes demanding, but always satisfying. The company organizes weekly team meetings and 1on1’s via Zoom. While this is a fast-paced environment, they do fun things like fitness challenges to foster teamwork between timezones. The role

We are looking for an Editor to take ownership of the Monthly Magazine, SEO optimized Website Content and the Summit Organization.

You must be passionate about what we do, understand the sensitivities of the autism niche and be able to research and learn as you go.

You will be reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, managing a mix of in-house editorial staff, magazine contributors and experts recruited to run presentations during the Summit.

This is a full time work from home position

Requirements:

Magazine Production:

  • Producing the editorial content for the magazine each month, including selecting issue themes, sourcing and selecting magazine cover images, briefing the graphic design team, writing the editor's letter, planning, editing & signing-off the articles
  • Adding paid and commissioned articles to the editorial planner maintaining at least 6 months worth of content
  • Preparing the Table of Contents (TOC) for each magazine issue and getting it ready for “press” with the support of the client's freelance copyeditors
  • Collating and editing the copy and images for magazine advertorials sold by the client
  • Proofreading the magazine PDFs, ensuring that all advertisements were included and linked to the relevant advertiser's website, and notifying the client if advertisements are missing
  • Proofreading the entire magazine for errors, omissions and contentious issues prior to publication and liaising with a nominated point of contact about identified issues
  • Producing and editing the monthly editor's video
  • All content will be supplied to the client as per production deadlines
  • Managing and resourcing the client's freelance copy editors to a budget agreed with the client
  • Liaising with the client's current magazine freelancers with regard to invoicing for editorial work
  • Managing the Editor's email account
  • Sourcing suitable content for the magazine from article submissions or other sources
  • Organizing and hosting webinars and virtual summits
  • Article writing and researching where required

Search Engine Optimization (hereafter SEO) Blog Posts

  • Creating and managing the production of SEO Optimized blog posts, including writing, editing, delegating and liaising with the client's freelancers in relation to SEO blog posts
  • Managing and resourcing the weekly blog posts to an agreed budget
  • Monitor and optimize performance to meet traffic, engagement and growth targets
  • Liaising with the client's current freelancers for the blog with regard to invoicing for editorial work
  • Producing guest blog posts.
