Be paid to train to become a Multi Skilled Sewing Machinist and enjoy learning to create luxury ladies fashion. Develop a wide range of skills, to produce high quality garments in luxurious fabrics. Enjoy being creative and working at speed, to create beautiful clothes, working alongside a very friendly group of people. Join our Sewing Academy and receive extensive training from our dedicated and highly skilled Sewing Learning Delivery Team. Learn all aspects of luxury garment making and develop a wide range of sewing skills.
We are offering a Level 2 “Sewing Machinist Apprenticeship” which is a one-year course that allows you to gain the knowledge, skills and behaviours required of a Multi Skilled Sewing Machinist. Working in our newly refurbished Sewing Rooms, over the course of the year, you will learn all about the fashion industry and luxury garment making.
The business needs permanent fulltime Sewing Machinists, so there is a very strong possibility that you will be offered ongoing permanent fulltime work at the end of your apprenticeship, if not before. As well as the opportunity to take a Level 3 “Luxury Garment Maker Apprenticeship”, a career in Sewing can lead to many different future job roles, such as:- Senior Luxury Garment Maker, Garment Technologist, New Product Specialist, Team Leader, Sewing Supervisor, Sewing Planning Specialist, Quality Controller and Production Manager, are some examples.
Level 2 Sewing Machinist Apprenticeship – Course Content: You will have the opportunity to learn:
- How a fashion business works
- Keeping safe and well
- Being organised and contributing to the team
- How to operate a range of production sewing machines and equipment, so that you can:- sew, trim, hem, add sleeves, pockets, buttons, darts, gathers, collars, pleats etc
- Gain knowledge of fabric (printing, cutting, qualities), threads and trims
- Learn garment production techniques and methods, so that you can produce a range of different clothes, in lots of different fabrics:- eg. skirts, tops, dresses, jackets, nightwear, in fabrics such as: cotton, lycra, silk, fleece and satin
- Quality standards, production targets and schedules
- See how new products are developed by our Garment Development specialists
- See Customer Services in action – i.e. see, hear and meet the customers who enjoy wearing the clothes made by you.
Hours – Full time Daytime – Mon to Thurs, 7am to 4pm, Fridays 7am to 12 noon (total 39 hrs/wk)
