At DB Cargo UK, we’re recruiting for a Logistics Manager to efficiently and cost effectively manage and co-ordinate all warehousing and distribution activities for internal parts within the company, ensuring delivery of materials as required by the business.

As a Logistics Manager you will ensure targets are completed on schedule and according to budget, quality, safety and legal requirements. Within this role you will be a transformational leader, working with your team and the wider business

You will be an internal or external logistics professional in both warehousing and transport activities with experience of managing staff over multiple sites.

This role will require you to have strong communication and management skills with a passion for developing team spirit both within and outside of own team to support in driving talent within DB Cargo UK.

Budget responsibility for all cost associated with warehousing, stores and transport of the parts supply chain
Planning and management of all stores, warehousing and transportation of materials in the company ensuring the most efficient layout & space utilisation, product handling, equipment, and storage requirement

Set and maintain high standards of H&S, hygiene, and security on site by establishing, following, and enforcing site behaviours

Ensuring compliance of all Health and Safety and regulatory requirements within the area of responsibility, ensuring compliance with the company’s operating license

Manage the companies wheelset transport plan

Setting KPI’s and developing standard operating procedures to ensure the warehouse and stores deliver on stock integrity and speed of flow both inbound and outbound.

Liaison with all major departments in particular procurement, outstations, DB Maintenance and Finance

The ongoing management and development of the materials management process including control, visibility and management of the repairables process

Management and development of the warehouse management system ensuring stock integrity is maintained and align with SAP data

Training and development of all staff members to drive talent development and skills within your team

Provide a continuous improvement culture to deliver a cost effective warehouse facility that operates efficiently.

Proactive approach with suppliers, procurement and engineering to drive innovation and best practice in the supply chain

Offer a center of excellence in terms of SAP materials management.

Contract manage all third party warehousing need covering T&RS material for both DB Cargo and DB Maintenance ensuring cost effectiveness and accuracy.

Manage HGV/LGV fleet (x4) to ensure compliance re servicing/MOT’s, tachographs, and drivers’ hours

Ensure all MHE is maintained/operated to comply with statutory requirements
To be considered for this position, it is essential that you have warehousing and logistic experience at a management level. You are required to have a minimum of a level 5 in Warehousing and Operations at a Management level to support this.

Experience in managing an internal supply chain and controlling slow and fast moving products, with management of obsolete stock

Experience in reverse logistics management for re-engineered materials with 3rd party providers

Comfortable and confident in managing the demands of internal stakeholders

Strong sense of process and continuous improvement

Detailed knowledge of working with WMS and SAP
