The role:


A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Transport Shift Manager to join the Avonmouth logistics team, to enable Hovis to deliver on its vision of being the best quality brand in bakery. We are looking for a Transport Shift Manager to be responsible for the smooth, safe and efficient running of the transport department in order to maximise operational efficiency whilst maintaining the required standards of internal and external customer service.


Responsibilities Include:


  • Leading, managing and motivating the Transport team to deliver on its strategic and operational objectives.

  • Achieve best in class service levels through ‘on time’ and ‘in full’ delivery.

  • Ensure the Transport function is fully compliant with all O licence and compliance obligations.

  • Ensure the Company Health & Safety policy is consistently applied throughout the function.

  • Ensuring that safety is paramount and that unsafe behaviour is discouraged, promoting a zero accident and incident culture.

  • “Make Things Happen” by coaching, motivating, inspiring and developing others.

  • Analyse challenges by using different thinking skills and styles appropriate to the level of challenge faced and provide robust, clear and grounded proposals and effective business solutions.

  • Be highly proactive in driving through initiatives and activities with enthusiasm and energy.

  • Continually review “How Things Are Done” to ensure personal and business effectiveness.

  • Demonstrate enhanced interpersonal skills which build trusting business relationships in a suitable supportive and collaborative way.

  • Contribute to a successful and effective team environment. Implement and deliver KPI’s.

  • Facilitate and monitor completion of Performance Enhancement Reviews


Ideal Experiences / Qualifications / Capabilities:


  • Experience and knowledge of Transport Operations.

  • Successful completion of CPC for Transport Managers.

  • Management within a FMCG customer facing environment.

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety within the Transport department.

  • Successful improvements in KPI and Operational performance.

  • Route Planning, experience of managing outbase Operations, management of 3PL.


Desirable:


  • Sales driver management experience.

  • IOSH / Safety management qualification.

  • Food manufacturing experience.
