Logistics and Distribution Manager –, Birmingham UK
Our client is a Birmingham-based lighting manufacturer specialising in metalworking, finishing and assembly for luxury
decorative lighting brands and we are currently recruiting a Logistics and Distribution Manager to organize the storage and distribution of the two company’s goods. Your role will be to ensure that the right
products are delivered to the right location on time and at the best possible cost. You will also be involved in
transportation, stock control, warehousing and monitoring the flow of goods.
Understanding the whole supply chain is important so that you can coordinate effectively and liaise with suppliers of raw
materials, manufacturers, retailers and consumers.
You will be an efficient and well organized multi-tasker, with a logical and methodical approach, a team player happy to
roll up their sleeves, with a high attention to detail and the ability to self-manage.
The role:
Developing business by gaining new contracts, analyzing logistical problems and producing new solutions.
Implementing new and efficient processes to increase productivity.
Continually develop and improve business performance within the constraints of legislation, fuel costs and rising
environmental pressures.
Use associated information systems to coordinate and control the order cycle.
Submit reports and recommendations for the senior management team.
The requirements:
Daily operation of the logistics department.
Direct, optimize and coordinate full order cycle, especially outbound deliveries to clients, collections/returns,
supplier imports.
Producing and distributing import/export documentation (CI, BoL, PL, CoO etc.)
Working with the factory finishing department, as a senior figure, to ensure client orders are made available to
you on time for dispatch.
Shipping account management.
The ideal candidate will have:
Previous experience as a Logistics Manager.
A logical and systematic approach to work.
Commercial awareness and numeracy confidence.
Confident interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Experience and knowledge of ERP systems, shipping automations and Microsoft Office.
Intrinsic understanding of transport documentation and import/export regulations.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work within a fast-paced environment often with competing priorities and not afraid of change.
Ability to work solo as well as part of a team, and to manage others.
Hours: 7am – 4pm, Monday-Thursday / 7am – 1pm on Fridays
Salary dependant on experience
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: Up to £40,000.00 per year
