Fintern is a small business in London. We are professional, agile, and our goal is to Starting in the UK, we’re on a mission to increase access to affordable lending. Traditional lenders have been relying on credit scores to make decisions for decades despite the fact that we’ve never had more data readily available. We’re changing this by looking at the full financial picture to understand what people can actually afford to repay. We do this by drawing on several alternative data sources and allowing users to connect their bank accounts using Open Banking. We launched in March 2021 and are growing quickly. We’ve raised £570m in debt and equity to date and our team consists of people from McKinsey, Bank of America, EY, Barclays, Wealthsimple, Airbnb, HSBC, XiaoMi etc..

We are an Open banking-based lender of consumer unsecured loans and we are looking for an experienced underwriter to join the team.

We are a fun-loving, hard-working team, we are going from strength to strength for the last 2 years.

We pride ourselves in being pioneers in the Open Banking lending space bringing a new approach to underwriting from the customer's transactions rather than their credit file. We are looking for an underwriter to expand our team; someone who is adaptable, diligent, and keen to develop themselves further.

We are growing extremely fast and seeking like-minded, responsible individuals who want to build a career with a new start-up brand. In this unique position, you will not only be relied on to produce good quality decisions but to provide improvement feedback on the systems and processes in use.

We have an open plan office and encourage the lateral communication of different departments to bolster individual expertise & knowledge growth. We work with collaborative support where you can apply your experience and skill set to help develop and improve aspects of the business and yourself sometimes outside of your normal role.

* 2 days a week office attendance is mandatory*

** Also includes Weekend and Bank Holiday work returned in lieu (from home) **

Responsibilities:
· Make decisions on new unsecured personal loan applications using our cutting-edge credit decision technology

· Carry out an in-depth analysis of Open Banking results

· Assess customer affordability and ascertain their creditworthiness

· Shape the processes and procedures we use in underwriting to continue to make them better

· Review and evaluate credit reports

· Carry out Fraud and AML checks

· Follow underwriting policy and procedures

· Liaise with customers to capture information and document where necessary

· Ability to work independently and take steps to enhance own knowledge when required.

· Provide support to other team members and to wider departments

· Work in a queue and strong pipeline management

· Produce high-level quality work and use your excellent attention to detail

Requirements:
· Minimum 2 years’ experience in a credit underwriting environment

· Target-driven with an understanding and desire to achieve our goals

· Experienced in working with near-prime lending, or a start-up environment would be a plus

· Experience in understanding and applying credit policy and procedures

· The ability to adapt to a fast-changing environment

· Enjoy working as part of a team

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Exceptional organizational skills

· A strong work ethic
