Swindon Borough Council
Full Time Swindon, Wiltshire, South West England, England 25986 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

At Swindon Borough Council, we want our town to be the best it can be. Our ambitious vision is supported by realistic transformation programmes, with the people of Swindon at their heart. Because that’s who we’re doing it for – the communities and businesses that make our town great. As part of the Council, you will support a friendly local authority making decisions with real impact. It’s all for better public services, better processes, and a better quality of life, for everyone. Join us, and Swindon will be better with you.

Your next role

You are one of our motivated Health Coaches, providing brief interventions to the residents of Swindon that will support them to focus on smoking cessation, healthy weight management, increasing participation in physical activity or reducing alcohol consumption. You will also be integral to our health promotion activity, breaking down barriers and reaching out to people facing the greatest inequalities. You will bring skills in delivering health improvement interventions, partnership working and health promotion knowledge to a council where we put Swindon and its people at the heart of everything we do.

Your knowledge of early intervention as a means to improve health outcomes alongside an understanding of behaviour change models makes you an ideal candidate for this role.

You will be delivering a 1:1 or group based brand new health coaching service, and health promotion activity. You will work closely with the Project and Team Lead and Programme Manager along with colleagues in the wider team and will focus on ensuring that the Live Well offer is evidence based, person centred, well planned, safe and effective.

You will provide health and wellbeing advice, signposting and support to the residents of Swindon, working closely with other providers of physical activity, leisure, health and wellbeing interventions. You will find ways to reach out to those facing greatest inequality and are creative and collaborative in your approach, inspiring and motivating lasting change.

You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).

The ability to travel throughout the Borough will be required in order to be available to support sessions and events around the town.

Your next package

Please see our Rewards and Benefits offer for more details.

As an employee, you will receive a diverse and exciting environment in which to work, encouraging creativity and innovation whilst recognising the need to support ongoing personal development and a flexible work life balance.

For Swindon to thrive in the future, we need to lay the foundations now. It’s why our regeneration and transformation programmes are already underway. So, you’ll be joining us at an exciting time on our journey. We’ll look to you to share your knowledge, influence decisions and drive real, positive change. With your contributions, we’ll achieve our vision of a prosperous, re-vitalised Swindon together. And you’ll be proud to say it was made better with you.
