We’re looking for a lawyer to join our Litigation & Contentious Regulatory (LCR) team, part of the wider Legal & Secretariat (L&S) division. We'll ask you to support the Head of the Group Litigation & Conduct Investigations Legal team in handling a diverse litigation workload, deliver pragmatic and commercially aware advice to business partners on litigation and conduct matters, and support them to identify, monitor and mitigate litigation risk. The role will be covering 12 months of sabbatical leave.
Why Lloyds Banking Group!
We’re on an exciting journey to transform our Group and the way we’re crafting finance for good. We’re focusing on the future, investing in our technologies, workplaces, and colleagues to make our Group a great place for everyone. Including you.
About us!
The Group Litigation & Conduct Investigations Legal team handles contentious matters with the potential to affect the Group, advising the business and conducting litigation (with the assistance of external firms where necessary). These cases involve a broad range of subject matter and legal issues. We advise on and support the investigation and governance of conduct cases. We provide dispute avoidance and risk management advice and support to the Group functions and coordinate reporting on material litigious matters to Group Audit Committee. The team also contributes subject matter expertise to Group responses to government and regulatory consultations on legal developments with potential to impact the business, assists with the formulation and implementation of Group policies and represents the Group in industry and other external forums.
What are we looking for?
A great teammate with a positive mind set. You’ll need to demonstrate flexibility and be able to adapt quickly to shifting priorities, with experience in advising and influencing a range of business partners. You will be willing to learn and quickly get to grips with new or emerging areas of law in order to get the best result for the Group, including being proactive in helping the Group to avoid litigation.
What we need from you!
- Professional legal qualification in a UK jurisdiction or equivalent.
- Current legal practising certificate or equivalent.
- Strong understanding and knowledge of the legal, technical and procedural factors affecting litigation matters.
- Significant hands-on post-qualification litigation experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to influence at senior business level and quickly build trust.
- Commitment to excellence.
Desirables
- A strong understanding and knowledge of the Conduct Rules, the whistleblowing regime and performance adjustment.
- Experience of conducting multi-jurisdictional cases
