Job description
Hours: 37 per week
Contract Type: Permanent
Service Area: Place Management
Department: Building Control and Public Protection
How would you like to join our dynamic and forward-thinking Licensing team working within Bath and North East Somerset?
Our Licensing Team is passionate about delivering a high class, customer focused service to protect the safety of our residents, visitors and businesses alike and we are looking for a Licensing Support Officer to join us. Whilst experience would be an advantage, we have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share and will provide training, if you are unfamiliar with licensing applications.
About the Role:
These are unprecedented times for the delivery of regulatory services, balancing the need to ensure compliance with government guidance whilst enabling businesses to re-establish and flourish following the lifting of pandemic restrictions. We can offer you an experience which is dynamic, rewarding and challenging.
In this role, you will become familiar with all the different licence types including alcohol, taxi, animal welfare and gambling. As part of your training, you will learn about the processes behind issuing all the various licence types and regularly engage with applicants and businesses.
This is a fantastic opportunity to learn how regulation can protect public safety - it’s not all about enforcement, our focus is to educate and bring about behaviour change.
About You:
You will be motivated by the opportunity to protect the safety of our residents and visitors and support our businesses and licensees to operate safely and efficiently whilst being fully compliant with licensing requirements. You will be passionate about customer service and confident in using Microsoft Office applications. Some experience of data base inputting would be advantageous.
You thrive in a dynamic environment where you can manage your own workload to best contribute to the overall objectives of the team.
The team are currently working remotely, and IT equipment will be provided, however the aim is to move to a blended working arrangement using Keynsham Civic Centre as our office base.
Your main place of work will be the award-winning, modern Civic Centre in Keynsham, halfway between Bath and Bristol, easily accessible via car or public transport, with a train station 5 minutes’ walk away.
