Library Customer Service Assistant
Tower Hamlets Idea Stores is now recruiting for Customer Service Assistants. We have the following 5 part-time positions available.
2 x 13 hours, Sat 9-5pm and 2 evenings 6-9pm per week
1 x 10 hours, Sun 11am-3pm and 2 evenings 6-9pm per week
2 x 11 hours, Sat 9am - 5pm, and Sun 11am – 3pm per week
Role Purpose
The Idea Store aims to make a difference by providing a welcoming, learning environment and the materials to stimulate enquiring minds and a love of reading. Idea Store is a modern concept of the traditional Libraries that provides more than a lending service, it offers a large collection of reading materials and computers for its users, it also offers a wide range of events and activities for all ages, such as Story Time Groups, Reading Groups, Homework Clubs, Conversation Clubs, Prime Time Clubs and more. It also provides a variety of adult learning courses and assists residents to access other Council Services. Also, anything and everything to do with reading for pleasure.
Key Responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for covering service points, floor walking and assisting customers with their enquires, providing digital assistance, stock/store presentation, providing advice and guidance to learners, signposting customers, and joining new members. You will also be assisting in the planning of events and activities, delivery, and evaluation of events and activities to a very diverse range of audiences, providing a consistently excellent level of customer service.
Requirements
Our ideal candidates need to be reading enthusiast who likes to engage and help customers of all ages and backgrounds. Someone who is passionate about libraries and can provide an excellent customer experience. Someone who has excellent IT skills and is able to assist users with information technology and signpost them where necessary
The post holder will need to be proactive and have a positive approach to teamwork. The workload is fast-paced and varied, so the post holder must be able to multi-task and prioritise effectively and be willing to develop themselves by undertaking new learning.

Application Details
Applicants must be available for a test and interview on the week commencing 22nd May 2023. Successful candidates will be required to attend a work placement, the week commencing from 30th May 2023.
