About the role
As a Library Assistant you will contribute to providing a best value public service by directly serving library customers and helping to meet their needs. The primary purpose of the post is to serve library customers. The secondary purpose is to carry out administrative tasks within the library which contribute to the provision of the public service.
Such tasks will include returning books to the shelves and keeping the books in correct order. This may also include jacketing and labelling books, printing lists of requested books etc.
The following shifts are available.
Reading Central Library - Thursdays 9:30am – 7:10pm, Friday 9:30am - 5:10pm, 2 in 3 Saturdays 9:45am - 3:10pm.
About you
If you have a friendly, customer focused attitude and are interested in helping us provide a valued customer facing, community service, we would love to hear from you!
Your duties would include:
- Working on library desks
- Working on the visa verification service and helping people use the library service.
- To act as an evacuation officer/fire warden – on hearing the fire alarm follow procedures in a calm, profession manner, clearing the library and ensuring customers are led to safety.
- It’s essential that you are computer literate, but we will train you on the tools you will need.
