Interested in an engaging and service-minded profession? Consider working as a Librarian I for the Nevada County Library. This position will serve as the Branch Manager of the currently-under-construction Bear River location working a Tuesday - Saturday schedule. This position entails performing professional library work under the direction of the County Librarian.

Duties include:
  • Supervising, training, and evaluating the work of assigned staff
  • Overseeing library programming
  • Working with and maintaining effective rapport with community organizations
  • Assisting in formulating library policies, procedures and operational systems
  • Preparing data and information for budgeting and monitoring progress as requested
  • Consulting with other libraries regarding book/materials selection, loans and related communications
  • Representing the county library on various committees, community organizations, workshops, and outreach activities
A Librarian I is an integral part of Nevada County whose mission is to support lifelong learning by providing books, information, and other resources to meet the informative, cultural, and recreational needs of the public we serve. This position is crafted for experienced individuals who have a Bachelor's Degree in Library Science, Information Science, Liberal Arts, Humanities, English, Communication plus two years' experience equivalent to County of Nevada's Library Technician; or, five years as a Library Assistant I/II/III. If you have Master's Degree in Library Science or Library Information Science, that's a plus!
Position includes salary adjustments based on merit within the classification of employment. On each salary anniversary date, until an employee reaches the maximum salary step for the employee's salary range, salary and shall be advanced to the next higher step of the employee's salary range unless the employee's service is not satisfactory.

Dental & Vision Insurance
Nevada County employees can opt to receive dental and vision insurance without opting for health insurance coverage as well. This will give employees more flexibility to match their choice of insurance plans to their specific needs. Delta Dental is the dental provider offered through Nevada County and VSP Vision Care is our vision care provider.

Retirement
The County is a member of the CalPERS retirement system and provides the opportunity for voluntary contributions to a 457 deferred compensation account through Nationwide by way of pre-tax and Roth payroll deductions.
