We’ll give you all the training you need to kick-start your driving career so that you can gain the licences you need to do the job and secure a permanent driving role with us at the end of your 13 week program. This will include passing all 4 LGV Modules (both theory and practical) and also passing the John Lewis Risk based Driving Assessment whilst achieving a low score. • Maintaining a full knowledge of the Highway code, WTD, EU Drivers Hours Regulations and Vehicle operation

What is involved during the academy process?

The program is built initially around 13 weeks, in which the C+E test will be completed. Following successful acquisition of your licence, a further period of training will be carried out to gain further experience and knowledge. This will be on the job training with a qualified LGV1 driver. This will include Branch deliveries and collections. Following this there will be an assessment, which subject to completion will then set you up as a LGV1 driver, initially on a Branch restricted list. There will be ongoing assessments to support you throughout your transition to fully qualified LGV1 Driver without restrictions.

The LGV Driver Academy training is fully funded by the Partnership and we will make a significant investment in all those that progress through it. We hope those that join the programme do so because they want to continue their career with the Partnership for the future.

After successfully gaining your C+E Licence and completing the training program, there is an expectation that you will remain with the partnership for a period of at least 2 years. Failure to do so may result in you having to repay all or some of the cost of the training provided.

If within 12 months of completing the programme, a Partner does decide to leave the Partnership, they will be asked to pay for 100% of the cost of the training they have received, 50% of the cost if they leave within 12 - 18 months of completing the programme and 25% of the cost if they leave within 18 - 24 months of completing the programme.
