Job Title: Legal Counsel – Corporate Insurance
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Edinburgh, Glasgow, London or Alderley Edge
Working style: Hybrid 50% home/office based
Closing date: 1st October 2023

We are currently looking for a Legal Counsel to join our highly regarded Group Legal Team. This role will complement a team of in-house lawyers who provide strategic legal advice, guidance, and support across the Royal London Group.

In this role you will use your skills and knowledge to undertake a range of legal activities, collaborating and developing key relationships with colleagues across the Royal London Group.

About the role

Act as Legal Counsel responsible for proactive provision of corporate insurance, M&A and commercial legal services, best market practice advice and guidance to the Royal London Group.
Draft, review, negotiate and conclude a range of documentation relevant to the wide variety of work you are involved in.
Act as a business partner to key stakeholders in your areas of work.
Support the provision of cost-effective legal services. Take responsibility for outsourced legal advice, challenge where appropriate and interpret and communicate external legal advice in a commercial and strategic manner for the Royal London Group.
Work as part of a greater team on cross-departmental projects, strategic projects, and key regulatory initiatives.

About you

Qualified Solicitor from a Common Law jurisdiction
Strong transactional experience including M&A and corporate insurance transactions.
Experience working in the Financial Services sector with an understanding of the relevant regulations.
Awareness of the principles of corporate governance.
Experience in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial contracts aspects preferable but not required.
