What’s it all about?

This role sits within a fun, supportive and hard-working Legal & Regulatory team, managing a wide variety of commercial legal and regulatory matters. The Legal & Regulatory team support Visa Direct, a Visa product that provides cross-border payment services to banks, money transfer service providers and businesses. As part of the team you will ensure that Visa operates within the law at all times, offer counsel on legal issues and facilitate business strategy development.


What we expect of you, day to day.

  • Provide expert and strategic legal advice.
  • Draft and negotiate agreements with our partner banks and clients.
  • Provide legal advice and support on other commercial matters relating to Visa Direct.
  • Work with other Visa departments across the globe to ensure agreements and advice accurately reflect business needs, risk appetite and Visa policies.
  • Responsible for managing day-to-day legal queries and taking the lead on your allocated matters.
  • Stay updated on legislative changes.


What we’re after…

Essential Skills:

  • Qualified lawyer with previous experience in a commercial legal environment. We will consider candidates who have qualified in other jurisdictions.

  • Demonstrable experience at a recognised law firm or in-house environment.

  • Strong academics and training, including legal drafting and negotiating, and relationship management.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills along with a demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as on own initiative.

  • Ability to prioritise and manage a varied and busy workload.

  • Positive attitude, high level of integrity and intellectual curiosity.

  • Fluent in English.


Desirable skills:

  • Previous experience of working within a technology and digital legal environment.

  • Knowledge of fintech and payments industry (and applicable regulation).

  • Previous experience of cross-border and multi-jurisdictional contracts.

  • Additional language.
