Platform Engineer

Remote (With occasional travel)
We're
looking for a Data Platform Engineer to join the dynamic Haven Digital team.
Working for one of the UK’s best-loved holiday brands, you
will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining our robust
data platform infrastructure.
This
will suit you if you have a strong background as a DBA but are looking for a
more modern approach to maintaining a database environment with a heavy focus
on cloud technologies.

What
you will be doing:
As a Data Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for
developing and managing our data platform infrastructure, ensuring the
availability, scalability, and performance of our data processing and analytics
systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their
requirements and translate them into efficient data solutions. You will also
contribute to the continuous improvement of our data architecture and data
management processes.
Ensure integrity and reliability of the data platform to keep it running
Manage monitoring services and wire up applications to Datadog
Configure Terraform for AWS (IaC, Scripting, Git etc)
Monitor and optimize data platform performance, identifying and resolving issues to ensure high availability and responsiveness.
Work closely with stakeholders to understand their data requirements and provide technical expertise to guide the design and implementation of data solutions.
Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends related to data engineering and recommend innovative solutions to enhance our data platform capabilities.
What
we’d like you to bring:
Extensive experience with SQL and working as a
DBA in an AWS environment
Experience of monitoring tools such as Datadog
Understanding of IaC, writing terraform scripts,
version control (git)
Experience managing databases in Azure is desirable
but not essential
Experience of migrations into cloud highly
desirable.
