Role and Responsibilities
Your Key Responsibilities:
To provide GDPR and UK privacy and data protection advice to the Samsung Europe Office (“EO”) business teams, Samsung HQ and its European affiliates. You will work closely with the Senior Legal Counsel to assist with planning data protection and privacy strategy/risk management for our business areas, as well as how best to engage with our key partners and provide best in class advice. You will also work with the Senior Legal Counsel for Data Protection and Privacy on ongoing pan-European data protection and privacy matters being handled in the Team, as well as supporting with monitoring the same across our affiliates in Europe.
The work will span preparing and delivering advice on privacy and data protection law issues including:
- Supporting and advising on applicable data privacy and protection issues arising in relation to EO projects, agreements and initiatives being run by our marketing, customer services, HR, products teams, and advertising, media and broadcast team;
- Advising on relevant data protection structures to ensure data protection compliance, including supporting dialogue with Samsung HQ and the other Samsung Electronics affiliates across Europe;
- Working on transfer impact assessments, data protection impact assessments and legitimate interest assessments to assist the business comply with documentation requirements under GDPR and UK GDPR;
- Providing practical guidance to the business on policies and procedures and providing scalable written guidance to teams on how data privacy applies to our products and services;
- Working on rights requests under the GDPR across the UK and Europe;
- Providing training to the business on data protection and privacy compliance matters;
- Liaising with Supervisory Authorities as necessary, providing hands-on expertise on privacy and data governance and advising on incident reporting and investigations;
- Continuous development of internal data protection guidance, policies and procedures for all divisions;
- Researching legal issues, case law and legislative developments.

- Finally, you will be expected to develop a deep understanding of Samsung’s products and business and assist with guiding the business teams with clear advice in a fast paced environment.
- Candidates should have excellent academics and have trained at a top tier London or major provincial firm. They need to have a strong command of data protection law and issues. In-house experience is desirable.
