The Opportunity
As a Legal Counsel at EDF Energy, you'll be part of our Governance and Legal Affairs Directorate, a vital force in shaping and managing our business. Your canvas will be the impactful projects that lead the charge in low carbon generation, including the Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C new nuclear power stations. These initiatives aren't just monumental in scale; they're at the forefront of the UK's climate change agenda and energy policy. With locations in Bristol and London, this position also offers opportunities for travel within Europe.

What you’ll be doing
Your role is to power up our legal efforts by partnering with the Head of Legal. Your proactive and preventive legal service will fuel the success of our business units.
Dive into the heart of our new nuclear projects being accountable for the following:
- Providing a timely, preventive, and commercially relevant legal advice to the business unit on a broad range of matters including the management of JV arrangements, key commercial contracts, arrangements with Government and shareholders, general advice on other planning or regulatory matters, governance and compliance requirements and avoidance and/or management of any disputes.
- Drafting, negotiating, and providing advice on the management of key contracts required by the applicable to the business unit.
- Supporting the applicable business unit in proactively identifying potential disputes or claims, avoiding such disputes or claims and successfully managing any formal dispute.
- To be aware of or research legislative changes that may impact the applicable business unit and share the same across the legal team and business unit as appropriate including through delivery of training courses.
- Managing matters for the applicable business unit, including the appointment and instruction of external law firms where required
Who you are
You're a qualified solicitor admitted in England and Wales, equipped with relevant post-qualification experience.
Your legal acumen is well-rounded, preferably with a touch of projects sector expertise.
Communication skills are sharp, both in speech and writing. The pressure of deadlines is where you thrive, juggling multiple tasks with finesse.
Flexibility defines you, as you're keen to expand your legal horizons and support various teams. Your organized, methodical approach keeps chaos at bay, and you're no stranger to the MS Office suite.
