The A Side: A Day in The Life
Providing Legal and Business Affairs support to the UK Digital and Commercial Division (comprising the digital and physical business partner account managers, the e-commerce team, the CRM team and strategic planning team). Providing advice and support to the UK labels, central UK Broadcast team; and the UK synch and brand partnerships team in relation to digital aspects of deals and marketing initiatives.
The B Side: Skills & Experience
Be Managerial
Providing legal advice to the different teams within the UK commercial division (which includes physical and digital business partner account managers; e-commerce; CRM and strategic planning)- Acting as the Business Affairs point of contact for business partners.

Supporting the UK labels, central UK Broadcast team; and the UK synch and brands team as well as the UK Commercial division in relation to digital aspects of deals and on a range of matters in general including:
- Advising on guidelines.
- Queries in relation to digital deals.
- Agreements relating to digital marketing activations.
- Providing advice on publishing issues
- Providing data protection advice. Working closely with the Global Privacy team.
- Providing advice in relation to e-commerce law.
- Managing internal communications regarding deals, ensuring labels know about and understand deal structures.
- Advising on a range of general ad hoc queries.
Be Operational
Responsible for liaising with the UK labels, digital account managers and third-party content providers and business partners to agree digital marketing initiatives including live session agreements.- Supporting the Head of Legal & Business Affairs in relation to all new digital business developments and direct to consumer activities
- Providing support as and when necessary to the Central legal team
Be Administrative
Contract drafting and negotiation of a variety of agreements including, live performance agreements, digital licence agreements, other rights-based agreements; sales agreements; digital distribution agreements; e-commerce agreements; IT service and maintenance agreements, supplier agreements, various data protection agreements and general service contracts,
Person Specification
Necessary
- Post qualified experience within a similar setting
- Experience of intellectual property, technology, commercial and contract law
- Experience of data protection law
- Intelligent and quick to learn with an energetic and enthusiastic approach
- Approachable and personable, with a pro-active approach to relationship management
- Highly self-motivated, articulate, organised and confident
- Excellent team player, also able to work on your own initiative
- Excellent drafting skills and strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, able to work with individuals at all levels
- Ability to work well under pressure and to manage a number of simultaneous priorities
- Experience of negotiation and a strong commercial awareness
- Interest in digital music/media consumption
Desirable
Some music industry experience ideally in digital- Expert understanding of Recording and Music Publishing industry
- Expert on anti-piracy and protection of rights
- Experience of consumer law
- Understanding of digital deals
- Experience of drafting and negotiating software development agreements.
- Experience of preparing, rolling out and advising upon company guidelines
