The Kentucky Department of Parks has a job opening for a Human Resources Specialist II. This position supports the Human Resources Administration Branch with personnel and payroll processing for Kentucky State Parks.

The main duties of this job include but are not limited to:
  • Process personnel, payroll, and benefits actions in KHRIS.
  • Draft HR-related correspondence as directed by the Appointing Authority.
  • Compile personnel and payroll reports.
  • Provide administrative support to the HR management team.
  • Assist HR Administrators and HR Management with HR-related training.
Preferred skills and abilities:
  • Knowledge of KHRIS or experience working in other human resource information systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to remain adaptable, demonstrate empathy, and active listening skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to keep up with multiple deadlines.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year of professional experience in personnel administration, business administration or management.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required college on a year for year basis. Prior military experience will only substitute if the individual received an honorable discharge, discharge under honorable conditions, or a general discharge.

Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title perform duties in an office setting. Minimal travel may be required.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
