Job description
As a legal assistant, you will provide a confident and capable presence in the Roche Legal office, representing the company and greeting clients. You are the face and voice of the office and help people who are looking for our legal services. In addition to being the first contact with the public, you will support the legal team’s work with clients.

Roche Legal is an award-winning boutique law firm based in York. We are a niche firm specialising in private client law, including wills, probate, trusts and tax, powers of attorney, managing affairs, Court of Protection, missing persons law, disputes, document services and international probate. Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service while answering, screening, and forwarding incoming phone calls
- Manage the calendar system to schedule and confirm appointments via phone, email and schedulers
- Receive, sort and process daily mail
- Manage intake of potential clients with attention to detail for information while providing empathetic communication skills
- Provide assistance to legal team by preparing draft correspondence and other assistance to paralegals and lawyers
- Enter case information into web-based case management system
- Provide kind, courteous communication while receiving visitors to our office
- Maintain reception area and set up rooms for meetings
- Provide efficiency in other clerical receptionist duties such as filing (mainly electronically), photocopying, scanning, and processing documents
- This is a full-time or part-time job where office presence is required

About you
- GCSE Maths & English – grade C or above (or equivalent) 2 x A Level (or equivalent) – minimum grade C
- A passion for meeting new people and learning new things
- Ability to show compassion for other people’s problems
- Ability to nurture relationships with our clients, consultants, vendors, and the community to create positive, successful, connections
- Ability to follow firm guidelines and policies
- A desire to master this job and take on new responsibilities to grow and improve your skills
- Previous office experience is preferred
- Previous experience with Microsoft Packages (including Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Self-motivated to achieve goals consistently and efficiently
- People focused with a helpful service orientation
- Ability to work within a team environment while maintaining individual accountability
- Strong organisational skills with both the ability to follow set procedures as well as create organisation when structure does not yet exist
- A patient and consistent approach to maintaining established standards, guidelines and procedures
