A Day In The Life
The Legal Assistant contributes to the efficient day-to-day operations by providing clerical and administrative support to lawyers. This is done through exceptional practice time management skills, the ability to successfully handle competing priorities, and a high degree of confidentiality and discretion. The successful candidate will provide essential Legal Assistant coverage to the lawyers during vacations and other absences of their regularly assigned Legal Assistant.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
- General administrative duties such as maintaining calendars, managing emails and managing lawyers’ practices
- Preparing legal documents and correspondence according to precedents and/or instructions (drafting letters, revising draft documents, and preparing document comparisons)
- Maintaining an efficient file management and bring forward system
- Provide vacation coverage and overflow support
- Other duties as required
Must Haves
- Legal Assistant Certificate from an accredited post secondary institution or equivalent work experience
- 2-5 years experience as a Legal Assistant
- Strong technical skills using Microsoft Office 365
- Experience working with 3E, iManage Desksite, DocuSign
- Client Service mindset with a “can do” attitude
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
