Legal Assistant - Business Services – Banking - Manchester, Birmingham, Nottingham

Why is this role important and how does it fit into the team, department and wider firm?
To provide a legal support service to the banking team across our Manchester, Birmingham and Nottingham offices.
What does the role actually involve?
- Pre-completion
- Company Search reports
- Preparing parties lists
- Preparing standard form documents e.g. security, overdraft agreements, notices of assignment etc
- CPS
- Running CP process i.e. preparing / administering the CP checklist, liaising with other lawyers and other parties to manage / chase down outstanding items
- Dealing with administrative CPs e.g. chasing down DD reports and insurance brokers' letter
- Preparing / agreeing board minutes, shareholders' resolutions and directors' certificates
- Helping in the completion of a transaction which may necessitate a completion meeting that may run late into the night. During busy periods late night working may be on a regular basis
- Dealing with signing arrangements including using online signing platforms such as DocuSign
- Post Completion
- Filings - diarising filing deadline dates / completing Companies House filing forms / sending registrations to Companies House and checking filings have been successfully completed within time
- Sending out notices of assignment e.g. to life companies re key man insurance
- Sending out / collecting in final documents and preparing / collecting bibles
- Completing post completion forms
- Completing wrap up reports (if required by bank clients)
- Filing deal details on completed deal list on intranet
- Arranging for paper files to be sent to archive
- Assisting with business development projects, including research into sectors
- Maintaining key date systems to manage deadlines
- Carrying out some basic administrative tasks including photocopying, opening and closing files, billing and general file management
- Undertaking legal research
- Undertaking any other duties as required, commensurate with the level of the post
What technical skills are required for someone to be successful and enjoy the role?
- Good familiarity with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Good IT skills with the ability to produce own correspondence and documentation
- Experience in a legal assistant/paralegal role (in banking or a related area) would be an advantage
