Job purpose:
To engage in a 15-month ‘Legal Administrator Apprenticeship’ programme (with Damar Training, trusted third party supplier of apprenticeship programmes) combining the Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship standard with 3 introductory CILEX units.
Responsibility for supporting the Legal team in relation to all Legal activities, working with the team on project and contract advice related activities, management of business support requests including engaging with business partners on timeframes in accordance with stated service times and maintaining an up-to-date view of key reporting and performance metrics for the team.
Ongoing learning of legal skills that support a route to achieving 3 introductory modules of legal CILEX qualification via a combined bespoke programme.
Job responsibilities:
To be an active member of the Legal function:
- To be a central point of contact in managing business partner queries relating to Legal support and working with the team to resolve;
- Taking ownership of the dept. mailboxes and responding where appropriate;
- Triaging enquiries to the most appropriate Legal team member and engaging with the business partners directly to address responses to enquiries within stated service times; and
- Managing associated key reporting and performance metrics for the legal team.
Engaging in 3 introductory CILEX units as part of combined programme, including the following units:
- The Legal Environment;
- Proofreading in the Legal Environment; and
- Relevant area of law, with particular focus on insurance, corporate and/or commercial law.
- Managing smaller legal project work on a solo basis and being an active participant in wider legal project work with a focus on administrative support.
- Complying with the requirements, and acting in accordance with, the Group Code of Conduct and Fitness and Propriety policies at all times.
- Continuous development of an understanding of legal practice and procedures, Group policies, values, and other relevant standards.
- Development of legal based competences and skills.
Job-specific competencies
Experience & knowledge
- Basic knowledge of legal services would be beneficial but not essential
- Demonstrable interest in a career in legal services/legal project management
- Business administration/project management experience preferred
Skills & Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Analytical and able to assess and articulate data sets
- Good time management and organisation skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Problem solving and the ability to find resolutions
- Competent use of software (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint).
- Minimum of 2 A level qualifications at Grade C or above (or equivalent)
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs including Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)
- Successful completion of Apprenticeship Training Provider’s pre-entry assessment and eligibility checks
