SODA
The School of Digital Arts is a purpose built, interdisciplinary school at one of the UK's leading universities. Offering industry and research informed courses and specialist spaces with the latest technologies, SODA is a £35M investment into the workspaces, networks, teaching, and research that will drive the next generation of creative content. Our students study disciplines that span film, animation, UX, photography, games design, games art and more, often working on live projects with industry partners and frequently collaborating with fellow students and researchers. They choose from a flexible mix of courses: foundation year, undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees that run alongside degree apprenticeships, summer schools and short courses.

Lecturer/Senior Lecturer – Music and Sound Design
We are looking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Music and Sound Design. The ideal candidate should have experience of a creative approach to designing and delivering higher education curriculum at foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate levels in subject specific and interdisciplinary contexts. This role requires a versatile approach and ability to deliver across different levels and (potentially) programmes and contribute to a vibrant and collaborative team that spans a wide range of digital arts disciplines, encompassing both academic and industry professionals.
Offering a skill set that blends experience at the leading edge of contemporary music and sound design technologies and techniques with a practical knowledge of the fundamentals of composition, production, and performance; The ideal candidate would have experience in a number of these areas:
- Experience of contemporary music and sound production techniques is essential.
- Familiarity with a range of digital audio production software such as Logic, Ableton, Pro Tools, Reaper, FMOD/Unreal & Max.
- Experience of creating music and/or sound design for various media inc. film/tv/games/installation.
- Familiarity with contemporary techniques for creating immersive and spatial audio environments.
- Knowledge of contemporary studio recording and mixing techniques.
- Demonstrate ability to develop and deliver learning that caters for a wide range of skillsets and experience levels.
The applicant should also have an in-depth understanding of current industry trends within this field and/or be able to conduct research as well as delivering programmes that are grounded in the present but offer space to explore the future – leading students to investigate what it means to be a creative arts practitioner at the convergence of storytelling, technology, and innovation.
