About the Role

The Department of Social Work and Wellbeing is a well-established and successful department within the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Medicine. The current portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes has experienced a growth in popularity over recent years, reflected in an increase in applications. These are contemporary and exciting programmes which aim to develop graduates who are highly employable and well equipped to work in the field of health and social care. The department is dynamic, forward thinking, innovative and research active, delivering a variety of mental health related qualifications.

Our suite of programmes offers diverse opportunities for our students, whilst the diverse backgrounds of the academic team complement each other, leading to a collaborative and academically stimulating learning environment for both students and staff. Coming to work in our department, you will help develop and deliver dynamic learning programmes that meet the needs of learners and utilise a diverse range of teaching and learning strategies.

You will be expected to contribute to the research activities of one of our Research Units and meet the qualitative and qualitative requirements for submission to the next Research Excellence exercise.

About You

You will be an enthusiastic and friendly professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills coupled with a commitment to providing an excellent student experience. An established or promising research profile and very good teaching experience on undergraduate programmes is essential. A background in mental health, counselling and psychotherapy, health, social care, psychology or education with supporting qualifications and experience would be an advantage, a Supervision qualification would be desirable.

To be successful you will further enrich our students’ experience through your expertise and subject knowledge as evidenced through your qualifications and extensive experience of professional practice.
