This part time (0.9FTE) role is available 1st September 2023 until 31 August 2024.


The role

You will be to support the delivery of the Art History and Visual Culture degree programme. The post includes responsibility for the design, development and delivery of teaching and learning materials across a range of modules within Art History and Visual Culture, with a focus on the period 1450-1700, with a focus on either Italy or the Netherlands.


You will contribute to team-taught core module teaching in Art History and Visual Culture, including the field trip, and supervision of undergraduate final year dissertations. You will also provide teaching for appropriate option modules related to the period 1450-1700, with a focus on either Italy or the Netherlands. You will contribute directly to foundation teaching in Art History and Visual Culture and to the development and implementation of innovative teaching practices.


This role may offer the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.


About you

You will:

  • Possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist and core knowledge in the discipline, demonstrated by a PhD in Art History and Visual Culture or equivalent to develop teaching programmes, and teach and support learning
  • Use a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students
  • Participate in and develop external networks, for example, to contribute to student recruitment, secure student placements, facilitate outreach work, generate income, obtain consultancy projects, or build relationships for future activities
  • Will have evidence of excellent teaching identified by peer review and have made an impact at discipline programme level beyond their own teaching
  • Be expected to work towards Fellow of the HEA status and to attend formal CPD relating to this
