Job description
Farmfoods is searching for an Area Manager to join us in the Edinburgh area. The successful applicant will receive a competitive salary, working a Full Time pattern over 5 days.
We are seeking talented individuals to strengthen our team of Area Managers. The role is a demanding one and you will be part of an exceptionally hard working team striving to improve the customer experience and efficiency of our shops day after day.
The Farmfoods Managers you are responsible for will look to you for leadership, inspiration and support and they will expect the highest standards of integrity and professionalism from you. Your work ethic must be second to none and your skills of organisation and attention to detail must be beyond doubt.
This role is not for the faint of heart, but if you think it is for you then read on to find out more.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a fantastic team of Farmfoods Managers who are motivated and capable of achieving great performances.
- Develop a pipeline of talent from the most junior level up to maximise internal promotion and development opportunities
- Operate your shops as efficiently as possible, particularly in relation to key operational costs: payroll, waste and shrinkage costs.
- Deliver excellent results on key operational metrics such as mystery customer visits and shopkeeping routines checks.
- Communicate thoroughly and promptly with Farmfoods Managers and with other operational departments to ensure a seamless experience for our customers every hour we are open and trading, seven days per week.
About You:
As an Area Manager you fulfil a key role in Farmfoods. You are the link between our shop teams, who serve our customers, and our other operational departments such as distribution, HR, IT and central services.
Each day you are responsible for making sure that communication flows smoothly around your area and between departments and that operational issues are solved quickly and efficiently, without our customers ever being aware of it.
You are part communications director, part operations specialist, part inventor and all round pragmatist. You are all of the above and you motivate yourself with a healthy dose of enthusiastic determination. The role’s tough but then again if it was easy, everybody would be doing it.
You’ll be responsible for anywhere between 5 and 12 shops and you will spend most of your time in those shops, speaking to your teams and interacting with your customers. You will check that our corporate standards are being upheld, advise Farmfoods Managers and retail colleagues on better, more efficient ways of working and you will develop a team to be proud of.
Your long term goal will be to work yourself out of a job, by developing a solid team underneath you. That’s some way in the future and you’ll need to have proved yourself as a seriously talented operator, but when that day comes you will be able to take advantage of our excellent opportunities for personal promotion and development.
