Our Vision
A skilled job for every graduate
University Studies at West Suffolk College
At West Suffolk College we are reimagining Higher Education. We believe University isn’t just about complex courses. It’s about undertaking a transformational experience that’s capable of changing lives and life chances.
That’s why we’re developing vocational degrees aimed at getting learners into high-skilled jobs, degrees that develop the whole person, degrees that are linked to real prospects in the region. We want learners to be able to engage with what we do at any life stage, whatever their circumstances. And we’re doing it all in partnership with the University of East Anglia (a top-25 UK University).
As an organisation we already send more than three quarters of our students into the world with first-class or 2:1 honours degrees, and we already have one of the highest National Student Survey scores in the region. But we know we can do more.
Over the next few years we’re embarking on an ambitious programme of development and change. We will be developing our digital capacity, reviewing our teaching and learning strategies, and bedding into a new dedicated University Studies building in Bury St Edmunds. We are establishing an integrated student support system, an extensive employer engagement programme, and a community of learning—staff and students together—to meet the region’s needs in the long term.
We’re looking for talented people who are passionate about making a difference to the region through education, and who share our commitment to excellence, a first class student experience, and the long-term development of higher education in West Suffolk.
This College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
