Description: This course introduces students to the elements of long-form writing such as investigative journalism, profiles, and personal essays. Students will gain an understanding of the elements of structure, style, and voice employed in literary journalism, and gain an understanding of its evolution over time.
Estimated course enrolment: 20 students
Estimated TA support: 0 TA hours
Class schedule: Wednesdays 2-5pm

Salary:
Sessional Lecturer I: $9,457.90
Sessional Lecturer I - Long term : $9,930.79
Sessional Lecturer II: $10,121.77
Sessional Lecturer II- Long term: $10,326.62
Sessional Lecturer III: $10,362.76
Sessional Lecturer III- Long term: $10,570.02
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Minimum qualifications:
- Degree in the field or a closely related field.
- Extensive industry connections and industry experience as a working journalist or editor with an emphasis on long-form or creative journalism required.
Preferred qualifications:
- Relevant teaching experience preferred.
Description of duties: All duties associated with teaching an undergraduate course, including preparing the course outline, syllabus and lectures, delivering lectures, developing, marking and administering course assignments, tests & exams, holding regular office hours.
