The role


Due to the upcoming retirement of the current branch partner Medivet have an opportunity for a vet to join the team at our beautiful practice in Sutton-on-Hull.

Our Lead Vets are responsible for directing the practice and its staff in providing the very best care to clients and pets. You’ll also have an engaged interest in the running of the practice and be rewarded for it's success.

This role would suit an already established lead vet looking for an opportunity to grow within a new company or an experienced vet looking to take the next step in their career. Clinical freedom and development of all our staff is important and you will have the opportunity to drive high clinical standards right from the start.

Salary package of up to £62,900 PA

We can also support Certificates of Sponsorship for a Tier 2 (General) Visa if you meet the criteria and are eligible to register as a veterinary surgeon with the RCVS upon arrival in the UK.

This is a permanent, full-time role working 39 hours a week over four days with 1:6 weekends but we're open to negotiation so get in touch an let us know what works for you.

Key accountabilities

  • Manage the sales performance, budget and overall profitability of the practice on a day-to-day basis.
  • Ensure all team members provide quality and ethical care to all clients and their pets/livestock.
  • Assess and examine and diagnose patients’ medical issues.
  • Perform surgery, dress and treat wounds.
  • Perform diagnostic laboratory, imaging and ultrasound testing where required.
  • Prescribe medication.
  • Promote preventative care by advocating and administering routine vaccinations and immunisations.
  • Educate clients on positive lifestyle choices for pets/livestock
  • Euthanise patients.
  • Ensure compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statutes, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain patients medical records.

Skills and experience

  • Registered with the RCVS.
  • Qualified MRCVS.
  • Commitment to animal welfare.
  • Ability to keep on top of practise protocols and procedures.
  • Excellent organisational skills.

Branch

Medivet Sutton on Hull is a beautiful practice set in a Victorian house, consisting of an operating theatre, separate minors suite, in house lab, x-ray room, two spacious consult rooms and a dispensary in the front of the building and three separate kennel wards for cats, dogs and large breeds in the rear.

Arthur, the long standing branch partner and his well established nurse team have built a loyal client base and see a varied caseload. The team currently consists of a lead vet with four nurses, a patient care assistant, two client care assistants and a practice manager. This amazing team strive to deliver the best possible service to clients and patients.
