Homerton Hospital is looking for a dynamic person to develop the knowledge and skills of maternity support workers (MSW), through strong leadership, support and development.
They will create an enabling environment for MSWs to thrive through education, and training to provide proficient care for women/ birthing people, their babies, and families.
The appointed candidate will work in collaboration with the maternity matrons, ward managers, Practice Development Midwives, and Public Health Midwives (community team leaders) across the department.
- The post holder’s main base will be in hospital; however, there is an expectation to spend some time with community staff and liaise and work with the education institutions and the East London Local Maternity System (LMNS) sector.
- The post holder will provide clinical and operational leadership to maternity support workers and ensure the provision of high quality patient care and experience.
- The post holder will demonstrate clinical expertise, competent practice and behaving as a role model.
- The post holder will develop MSWs in to providing quality, evidence- based women centred care.
- The post holder will support newly recruited MSWs in completing their Care Certificate program.
- The post holder will support HHFT’s transformational work from Band 2 to Band 3 MSW’s and embedding the Band 4 Nursery Nurses roles.
- The post holder will lead on the completion of all MSWs and Nursery Nurses appraisal to a high standard.
- The post holder will work in collaboration with the Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT) Education Team in maternity and Trust-wide in implementing new educational projects for MSWs in Associate Nursing and Nursing Apprenticeship.
- The post holder will lead on the recruitment process for MSWs and Nursery Nurses across maternity HHFT, working collaboratively with the Recruitment and Retention Midwife.
