WHAT TO EXPECT We are searching for a Lead EDU System Engineer. This role allows helping define and deliver the next generation of JLR Electric Drive Units, to be manufactured in-house and form the heart of future Jaguar and Land Rover zero-emission electric vehicle powertrains. The successful candidate will be a central point of integration within the advanced EDU group, bringing together concepts from the advanced E-machines, Inverters, transmission and thermal systems teams to create and validate the EDU at a whole-system level. This is a broad-based role in a growing team with opportunities to work on a variety of business, technical and organisational objectives. Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities A key objective is the integration of the EDU system to meet the overall powertrain Customer, Technical and business objectives. The scope includes physical and electrical architecture, timing and commercial considerations Interpretation of vehicle attribute targets, decomposing into EDU and subsystem requirements through functional analysis Evaluating and optimising system design concepts to balance technical and business objectives Identify and explore opportunities for innovation to improve customer experience, efficiency or quality Provide technical integration support, and objective data analysis across the EDU systems teams. Lead cross-functional technical reviews to align stakeholders on the outcomes Help generate Strategic Roadmap and functional definition for future EDU technologies Deliver EDU level Systems engineering analysis and co-ordinate systems work between the subsystems and vehicle teams Define system requirements specification and associated system-level test and validation plans Manage the delivery of those plans via CAE, Rig and vehicle tests through the virtual to Job1 delivery cycle Knowledge, Skills and Experience Experience working on the integration of complex Systems - ideally but not necessarily automotive Expertise in one or more: electric drives, e-machines, inverters, or related systems and the ability to master the complete EDU and power electronics system Experience in system analysis and validation, working with design/performance modelling via CAE methods. Direct experience with CAE tools such as Simulink / AMESim / GTcool Experience in Systems Engineering methods, formal requirements management toolsets or Model-based systems engineering (MBSE) approaches for solving complex technical issues A broad-based appreciation of the innovation to industrialisation to customer value delivery chain and a methodical, engineering principles approach to balancing complex requirement sets A Degree equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline is expected SO WHY US?
