Purpose of the job
To carry out sports coaching in a range of school and community settings under the
general supervision of Aura Sport Development Officers.
(a) Provide sports coaching in schools, clubs, youth groups and other community
settings.
(b) Work with young people to develop their Sporting Literacy ensuring their access
to a wide range of movement and sports skills.
(c) Work with the Aura Sports Development team to deliver holiday programmes and
other sport and activity programmes.
(d) Participate in the monitoring, evaluation and analysis of coaching sessions,
events and activities, ensuring continuous improvement.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The post holder reports to the recruiting Aura Sports Development Officer and is a
member of the within the Aura Sports Development department
General Roles
1. Liaise with Leisure/Sports Centres/School staff when running a session at the
sites.
2. Participants (children/adults) - deliver appropriate sessions for age/ability
3. General Public - dealing with parents/carers of young participants
4. Community groups/ voluntary groups
5. To find out about relevant policies and procedures for their sessions
6. To liaise with staff on a session by session basis
Essential
1. A level of experience of coaching, particularly with schools, or community groups
2. Experience of working within a range of sports and physical activity settings.
3. National Governing Body Coaching qualification, minimum Level 2 or equivalent.
4. Experience of working/liaising with schools, clubs and other coaches
5. IT Skills
6. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

10. Ability to relate to young people
11. Able to work on own initiative
12. Ability to work evenings and weekend
13. Have a full driving license.
Desirable
1. A knowledge of sporting literacy and long-term athlete development
2. Experience of working with other sports organisations/agencies

4. First Aid qualification
