We have a fantastic opportunity for a Principal Consultant – Rail Performance Analytics Lead to join our Data Science & Analytics team.

You will be responsible for:
- Leading the engagement for Amey Digital Consulting in developing and delivering critical analytics solutions in the rail performance, rail system operator and timetabling disciplines.
- Engaging with industry partners, leading on knowledge sharing and establishing commercial relationships to grow Amey market share in the areas of rail performance, rail system operator and timetable modelling.
- Leading technical aspects of significant and complex projects in a chosen technical area, and developing novel solutions or approaches that address current or future client needs
- Providing a clear direction and vision for the technical delivery of projects and communicating it effectively to clients and to project teams
- Provide direction for developing an area of our team's technical capability, maintaining awareness of external developments
- Representing our company and developing relationships with high-profile clients up to director level
- Showcasing our technical capabilities and understanding to the market and looking to expand their application to new industries and clients
- Utilising a wider business understanding to drive appropriate and intelligent decision making

We want to hear from you if you have:
- Deep technical understanding, in one or more of the following areas, building on past experience, and awareness across the board concerning: strategic developments in (1) rail performance, (2) rail system operator and (3) timetable modelling.
- A strong network, which you will leverage in your consultancy role with the business development mindset to be an industry catalyst, spanning the leadership community for these areas within the GB rail sector.
- Have a Bachelors degree or higher in a STEM subject (or equivalent portfolio/work experience)
- Demonstrable experience of landing significant analytics-led business change in a large organisation
- Proven advanced skills and an extensive track record in quantitative analytics and/or data science (ideally applied to physical infrastructure, or demonstrating transferability from another sector)
- Ability and interest in coaching teams to develop their skills, follow best practices and maintain quality standards in high pressure environments
- Ability to interpret and explain complex analysis in clear terms for a non-expert audience, for both project delivery and business development.
- Expert experience in developing robust scripted data analysis, including use of relational databases
- Significant experience of collaborative working using version control
