Job description
Salary: Competitive with Bay Street law firms
Work Week:
- Regular work week is 8 hours per day, 5 days per week (Monday through Friday), for a total of 40 hours
- Daily hours may vary from time to time and may be averaged over a work week
Qualifications:
- At least 2-5 years of relevant work experience
- Post-secondary education preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and relevant practice directions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Strong experience with calendar and legal practice management
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Experience in Teraview searches and registrations is an asset
- Experience in Relativity is an asset
- Familiarity with document management and docketing software system (Clio), document review software (Relativity) and other specific litigation applications (Caselines, Westlaw, CanLII, etc.) is an asset
- High level of discretion and confidentiality
Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support, including file maintenance, preparation and distribution of correspondence, faxes, emails, and court documents
- Filing documents and emails
- Assist with the preparation and distribution of all court forms, including motion records and pleadings
- Manage the issuance, service, and filing of court documents
- Assist lawyers with work flow and file management
- Assist with adjudications
- Conduct title, corporate, execution, bankruptcy and other searches
- Draft pleadings, notices of motion and affidavits
- Review client documents
- Prepare affidavits of documents
- Prepare and register construction liens, certificates of action, and applications to delete
- Keep lawyers abreast of changes to practice directions and court rules and forms
- Such other reasonable tasks as the Firm may request from time to time
