Job Requirements
- Draft pleadings - Statement of Claim, Affidavit of Documents, Trial Records, etc.
- Responsible for requesting all productions and undertakings and ensuring documentation is sent to insurance companies or counsel
- Responsible for scheduling any client meetings, telephone conferences, examinations for discovery, mediation, pre-trial and trial
- Diarize deadlines and reminders in Outlook for lawyers for any filing that was required for legal documents , hearing or upcoming client meetings
- Maintain an ample filing system to ensure fast retrieval of client files and ensured that the files were updated at all times with the most recent documents and information
- Prepare assessable disbursements for settlements
Qualifications
- Completion of accredited legal assistant and or law clerk program required
- 2+ years experience in dealing with Tort matters (plaintiff personal injury or insurance defense experience)
- Demonstrated experience providing administrative support in an environment with a broad variety of administrative and clerical functions
- Advanced familiarity with the Rules of Civil Procedure and the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule
- Excellent organizational, time management, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while paying attention to detail
- Confident and dependable, with strong initiative and ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented atmosphere
- Demonstrated ability to research/investigate issues and sound decision making skills to resolve problems and or escalate as appropriate
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated advanced writing skills to prepare legal correspondence and complete forms
- Ability to exercise good judgment when dealing with clients
- Positive and friendly demeanor
- Willing and positive towards learning, education, advancing skills and adapting to new responsibilities
