Job description
Full-time (Monday to Friday) family law clerk needed for a busy downtown practice. Main duties include scheduling meetings, sending monthly invoices to clients, contacting court officials, liaising with counsel to schedule appearances, and answering the office phone.
Other duties include:
- Drafting court documents such as Affidavits, Motions, Case Conference Briefs, and updating
Financial Statements.
- Drafting email and letter correspondence.
- Filing documents either in-person or through the Justice Services website.
- Ensuring documents for upcoming court appearances are uploaded onto Caselines.
- Creating client files in Divorce Mate and PClaw, when needed.
- Obtaining information for potential new clients and conducting conflict checks.
- Making deposits at the bank, when needed.
- Following up on client invoice payments.
- Ordering office supplies.
Experience:
- 3+ years working in a family law practice, with trial experience considered a huge asset.
- 3+ years of administrative experience.
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- College diploma in legal administration/law clerk.
- University degree would be considered an asset.
- Bilingualism is an asset.
