Job description
We are looking for a Late Shift Supervisor for our second shift in our Woodmill Department.
In this role you will ensure the Woodmill late shift delivers its pre-planned throughput volumes in the most efficient and cost-effective way. Supervising and managing the other team operatives. Maintaining our high standards of manufacturing and product quality whilst ensuring full compliance with the company’s health and safety policies and procedures
People Management:
· Responsible for management of Late Shift production staff at the Woodmill;
· To set appropriate goals/objectives for your staff;
· Coach and develop your team to reach and contribute to their full potential, ensuring team members take ownership and responsibility for their own work; demonstrate focus on own development and on delivering effective individual and team capability and talent development processes;
· Manage the day-to-day tasks of all late shift staff;
· Coach and lead by example, developing the team to reach their full potential;
· Be part of creating and delivering department team talks and tool box talks keeping staff informed and safe;
· Organise the effective and efficient use of operational staff in accordance with the production schedule, paying particular attention to the efficient and flexible distribution of workforce between machines;
· Ensure all staff under their supervision is fully aware of the importance of quality control procedures;
· Visually checking the work of production staff and communicating results;
· Assist in the management of poor performing team members in association and with guidance from the Human Resources Department and Production Manager;
· Liaise with the Woodmill Production Manager and HR Department in matters relating to misconduct resulting in a potential disciplinary;
· Monitor and organise operational staff breaks in accordance with the Working Time Regulations and as set out in the Company Handbook;
· Work in close liaison to manage operational staff overtime to ensure effective working and consideration of costs, deadlines, and viability.
Production Management:
· To ensure that appropriate communication take place with your staff concerning the Production Schedule and what is expected of them;
· To ensure OTIF delivery, quality, cost effectiveness and customer satisfaction;
· Assist with creating and maintaining procedures / work instructions for use by production staff;
· Review timesheets daily ensuring that they have been filled out correctly by all Woodmill late shift staff;
· To maintain the quality system for production and ensure suitable and timely feedback of non-conformances to the appropriate person(s) utilising the Fathom 3C procedure;
· Ensure that all quality assurance documentation is properly completed, reviewed and maintained;
· Providing an effective, safe and fair working environment at all times.
Technical Responsibilities:
· To undertake duties associated with a Machinist when needed ensuring full familiarity is maintained with all machines;
· To ensure all machine are maintained to a high standard and a ‘clean as you go’ attitude is adhered to by all staff.
Health & Safety Responsibilities:
· Working in close liaison with the Production Manager to ensure health and safety procedures are adhered to and that a safe working environment is always maintained;
· Assist with maintaining and raising Health & Safety procedures, risk assessments and method statements as necessary;
· Ensure that all employees (including agency staff) are properly and fully trained in the correct manufacturing procedures and equipment operation for the allocated tasks;
· Ensure all required machinery safety checks are carried out and properly documented and filed;
· Ensure that all weekly check sheets are completed and returned to the Production Manager for recording and filing.

Essential at appointment:
· Proven experience of setting up and using a computer numerical control (CNC) machine and/or beam saw primarily within a joinery/display environment;
· Experience in supervising a team;
· Communication, influencing and diplomacy skills in order to be able to achieve the right outcome for the team.
As the above machines are primarily used during production, it will be imperative that full training is provided to ensure full competency and knowledge.
Desirable at appointment:
· Experience of working in a busy machine orientated environment;
· Knowledge of working within a lean environment;
· Past experience of working with Flat-Panel production.
Pay:
£13.42p/hr from 2.00pm to 6.00 pm, £17.90p/hr from 6.00pm to 10.30pm
