Languages Manager

We are looking for a Languages Manager to join our friendly, growing team in West London (nearest tube: Parsons Green). You will be in charge of producing new content for our flagship uTalk app and maintaining existing language courses, as well as managing the localisation of our website and marketing copy. You will ideally have experience in digital localisation and / or a postgraduate degree in translation. This role plays an essential part in our brand integrity as you will ensure not only the quality of the courses but the accuracy of our overall messaging about languages. The successful applicant will get an amazing insight into the workings of 150+ languages and their cultures. This job is open for all levels and the salary offered will reflect experience.

Key responsibilities:

· Manage production of new language courses from beginning to end, including sourcing native speakers, supervising translation, recording audio and post-production.

· Maintain existing language content and respond to client queries regarding courses.

· Manage localisation of website - liaising with overseas distributors to ensure final product meets sales and marketing demands - and other marketing copy.

· Work with the marketing team to help launch new language courses

· Build and maintain an up-to-date database of reliable translators in over 150 languages.

· Liaise with development team on optimising bespoke localisation software.

· Liaise with marketing team to help produce copy for website and other media, as well as proofreading of language-related content.

· Source and work with language communities (particularly indigenous and minority language groups) to produce new content or promote existing courses / products.

· Ensure accuracy of company messaging regarding languages and teaching ethos.

· Attend exhibitions to represent the company.

Key skills:

· Excellent written and verbal English.

· Working knowledge of common translation practices and software.

· Excellent attention to detail and great organisational skills.

· Passionate and knowledgeable about languages.

· Proficiency in at least one language other than English.

· Ability to manage large numbers of freelancers, work to tight deadlines and manage budgets.

· Ability to plan ahead and foresee potential pitfalls, especially regarding localisation projects.

· Good at liaising between different departments and prioritising workload.
