Term of position: Permanent
Salary: £10.42 pr hr with a £1.00 extra for over time.
Hours: Part-Time

Job Location: The Solace Community.
The solace Community is a 72 bedded business consisting of male and female individuals. We provide accommodation to help break the destructive cycle of homelessness on both the individual and society. Recognising the needs and aspirations of everyone. Working in partnership with local strategic agencies, we provide a nurturing and holistic environment for individuals to address a diverse range of issues.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The post holder will be expected to demonstrate their suitability for the post through life and/or career experience.
Experience of lone working in a hostel or similar environment.
The understanding of the issues associated with being homeless.
Experience of working with vulnerable and chaotic client groups.
Awareness of mental health, alcohol, drug misuse and offending behaviour.
Good listening skills.
Sound written and verbal communication.
Non-judgmental attitude and approach when dealing with vulnerable people.
Ability to make yourself available at very little notice if a shift becomes unavoidably available.
Good sense of humour
PURPOSE OF THE POST
It is the nature of the work within The Solace Community that tasks and responsibilities are, in many circumstances, unpredictable and varied.
Each staff member is, therefore, expected to work in a flexible way when the occasion arises.
when tasks are not specifically covered in their job description that need to be undertaken, to be able to adapt and help.
To ensure the health safety and wellbeing of the clients out of normal office hours providing safety and security.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure that The Solace Community is properly secured and that the assets of the organisation are always safeguarded.
Respond promptly and positively to any issues that may arise.
Produce clear & concise record of events during shifts in the form of a handover log.
Develop a relationship of trust and understanding with all clients.
Liaise with emergency services when necessary
Inform the appointed on-call worker of any serious incident or crisis.
Work flexibly in accordance with the rota to include work at weekends, holiday periods and overnight, as required
Ensure that the house rules are maintained.
CONFIDENTIALITY
It is expected that all Solace Community employees will understand that our work is confidential and that personal details must not be divulged to members of the public, visitors, or other clients. This obligation will continue indefinitely even after termination of employment. All approaches by the media or other third parties must be referred, unanswered, to the line manager.
