Covia is looking for a highly motivated, skilled individual to fill the position of Labourer at our Nepheline Syenite Operation located at the Nephton Plant northeast of Peterborough, ON.
The candidate will be required to perform the following duties.
- Sweep, shovel, and vacuum rock, sand and dust.
- Utilize a wheelbarrow to move rock, sand, and dust.
- Assist in Dust Collectors
- Work while wearing respirator, safety boots, hard hat, safety glasses and hearing protection.
- Work in extreme weather conditions, including cold, heat, snow and mud
- Fill operator positions within the plant for planned and unplanned absences
- Fill job classifications created by annual vacation relief positions that are vacant.
- Assist the maintenance crew as required
- Possess the ability to learn, understand and follow all Health & Safety policies/procedures
- Adhere to site procedures and instructions given by supervisors
- Perform all other duties as needed or assigned
Minimum Requirements
- Literacy in English, both written and spoken.
- High School diploma or GED
- Computer skills and further education an asset
- Should have manual dexterity, physical strength and coordination
- Possess good communication skills, basic analytical skills and an ability to read and carry out instructions
- Must be comfortable working independently, under supervision and in team settings.
- Mechanically inclined
- Willing to perform repetitive or routine tasks
- Availability to work shift work and weekends.
