Job description
As a Laboratory Technician you will be responsible for
Testing petrochemical samples. The testing usually covers both physical & chemical properties of the materials using calibrated equipment, standard operating procedures & quality control procedure. Data entry of obtained results into the LIMS system.
Key Responsibilities
GENERAL
Petrochemical samples receiving, processing and testing for physical & chemical properties. Instrument calibration, quality assurance, and cleanliness.
BASIC SAFETY
Learn about and follow all Safety standards set as per HSE standards
Know the rules and regulations about handling and storing chemicals, using spill-kits, and using the proper documentation.
OPERATIONS & TEAMWORK
Good verbal and written communication skills
Work reliably with interdependent team-mates
Cooperate and collaborate in a conflict free environment

Receive & log-in samples

Assist senior staff and manager as required

Assist with stocking and ordering of chemicals & supplies
Learn to use related methods, computers and instrumentation
QUALITY ASSURANCE
Understand QA/QC programs and implementation
INSTRUMENTATION
Learn about instrumentation and their use
Learn about calibrations, basic maintenance and repairs
Learn to troubleshoot, solve problems & work with manufacturers
Assist lab experts, supervisors and manager to work on instruments
Qualifications
GCSE / ONC in a science subject. Chemistry is preferable
GCSE Grade C (or similar) Mathematics, English Language
Experience in working in labs is a plus
Job Types: Full-time, Zero hours contract
Contract length: 12 months
Salary: £20,000.00-£22,000.00 per year
